How I Work
I work from reference photographs, so they need to be of reasonable quality, and ideally in digital form. Some of my clients ask for pictures of loved animals that have sadly passed away, so I will try to work with what you can provide. I am also able to travel within Kent, to photograph your animal, which will give an opportunity to meet and see some of their character. (There may be an additional charge for this service).
There is no faith which has never yet been broken, except that of a truly faithful dog. - Konrad Lorenz
Materials I Use
I use high quality, light fast pencils (such as Faber Castell, Polychromos pencils). The work is presented on Clairefontaine Pastelmat board or other high quality paper that meets your needs. Background colours and presentation are all agreed before commencement of the work. I am happy to advise what will look good.
How Long Does The Process Take
Each picture takes between 25-30 hours of work to complete. Pencil is not a speedy medium! I also like to take care, to make it the perfect piece for you. Capturing a loved friend that has passed on is an especially big privilege, which I take very seriously. For this reason it’s not possible to do commissions at very short notice. As I also have a day job, a piece may take 3 to 4 weeks to complete.
